This week in Buzzing: We don't have 40 years for insects to become mainstream | In Other News: Lego model and bug backlash | Test Corner is on holidays.
It's interesting we would consider eating bugs to save the climate when the construction of all these bug growing facilities, packaging, transportation, etc is not carbon free. So many things in the construction industry are produced with fossil fuel. I think I will stick to the beef, pork, and poultry I grew up with.
Hello Andrew, that's fantastic, I'm glad it got you thinking. And I'm pleased to see I'm not the only one not keen on scorpions. Louise (below, director of Eat Crawlers) needs to work on us ;p
Hi Emilie, I'm surprised that you're drawing the line at scorpions. They're quite a unique flavour and pretty salty, but I'd say are one of the easier bugs to eat from our range particularly when they're covered in chocolate. They're also our biggest seller and the perfect birthday gift for the Scorpio in your life. For me, while I can say that I've eaten a leg of a tarantula, I'm still working my way up to eating a whole one as the leg just tasted like mud to me. Cheers Louise
I can't get over their appearance - same as for tarantulas (which you're not selling to me!). One day, I will work up the courage. And perhaps once I try one covered in chocolate, I'll be happy to eat one prepared in a different way.
I do not want to be pessimistic, and maybe we can have a laugh at this! Imagine when insects will become widely-available, that there will be those “manly men” who will oppose them at all costs, just like they refuse to eat veggies or greens nowadays, saying that real food is only their steak!

Goody Higgins is a witch. I saw her casting spells by the light of the moon. Will you stand with me in condemning her?
Hi Emilie, I enjoyed reading your articles which inspired me to include the topic on my own sub stack this week, with a hat tip to you of course.
